FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Lithiumax batteries a direct replacement for my lead-acid or AGM battery?
In most cases, yes. Simply check the Ah rating and CCA or CA rating of your OEM or existing battery and compare it to the Ah and CA rating or the Lithiumax battery that is specified for your engine size and use i.e. as a daily driver or as a race car, with battery isolator switch. For road going or daily driven vehicles you may require a set of SAE terminal posts for your battery to allow the factory terminal loops to be fitted. The standard vehicle charging system or alternator will charge the Lithiumax battery as per the standard OEM or factory battery, no changes required at all though some modern vehicles require the battery to be registered with the ECU. This may not always be the case, however consult your service agent for confirmation or to complete this simple task, as with all new batteries fitted.
The Lithiumax battery specified has a lower Ah rating to the OEM battery, is this ok?
There may be a variation in the Ah rating of the Lithiumax battery when compared to the OEM unit. In most cases this is ok and the Lithiumax battery still provides a reasonable capacity or reserve. Lithiumax batteries have been designed to be the ideal compromise between capacity/power and ultimate light weight performance.
What size battery does my vehicle require?
Is the Lithiumax battery suitable for vehicles fitted with Start/Stop functionality?
Yes, Lithiumax batteries are ideal for vehicles fitted with start-stop systems. In fact lithium is superior for this application due to its high relative starting current capability as well as superior charge/discharge cycling versus lead-acid or AGM/Gel batteries.
I've heard the stories about lithium catching on fire?
Not Lithiumax! Our batteries utilise the highly stable LiFePO4 type, Lithium Ferrous Phosphate battery chemistry that is rigourously tested by DEKRA Germany to comply with the very stringent UN38.3 safety standards. This means Lithiumax batteries are very safe, non toxic 100% organic and stable. Unlike the acid filled lead-acid or AGM batteries they replace.
Do I need a special charger for a Lithiumax battery?
What if I don't have low volt protection fitted to my vehicle and I accidentally drained the battery?
There are a number of Lithiumax battery models that now come with low-voltage cut-out technology built-in with a simple battery 'restart' button. In these cases should the Lithiumax battery be drained to the point where it cuts out, simply press the 'restart' button and you may, depending on circumstances, still have enough energy in the battery to start the engine. If not then simply recharge the battery and it will return to normal operation.`
How can such a small battery run my lights, stereo, etc?
How long will these Lithiumax batteries last compared to lead-acid or AGM?
If correctly maintained, your Lithiumax battery will outlive lead-acid or AGM batteries at least 4 to 1, that's 4 times longer life. In most cases your Lithiumax battery will be the only battery you will ever require for your vehicle.
What is the Warranty on Lithiumax Batteries?
Each Lithiumax battery is covered by a 2 year factory warranty. If correctly maintained however, your Lithiumax battery should last for 7-10 or more years.
My car is a Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Lotus, Jaguar, Audi, Ferrari, Mini, Corvette, Mustang, Lamborghini, Honda, Toyota etc. Do you have a battery for all of these?
Yes. A reference guide is available on the Lithiumax User Instructions PDF on our Support page. You'll also find guidance in the Shop section under each battery model as to their application. With Lithiumax batteries, the specification is determined by the engine capacity of your vehicle. Supporting accessories such as mounting plates, brackets and SAE terminals can also be purchased through our shop to make fitting your ultra-light Lithiumax battery simple and easy.
Is Lithiumax also suitable for Motorcycles, ATV, Jetskis, Go-carts, Boats and Aircraft?
Absolutely, we have a specific model for Motorcycles, ATVs, Jetskis & Go-carts that delivers a whopping 300CA and weighs just 0.8kg. For Boats and Aircraft, simply follow the engine capacity guidlines as per motor vehicles found on the instructions within our Support section or within the model specifications within our Shop
What about those batteries that claim to use prismatic cells & therefore superior?
